Gayle Hom
Executive Director

Executive Director Gayle Hom, is a third Generation Chinese American and a native San Diegan. Her immigrant roots began when her Great Grandfather came to America in 1880 to work on the California railroads. Gayle’s father is a pioneering San Diegan who served as a City Councilmember and State of California Assemblyman. After graduating from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Sociology and studying abroad in Taiwan, Gayle embarked on a series of world travels that exposed her to a variety of cultures. Carrying on the family tradition of public service, Gayle also served as a Senior Policy Advisor for the Mayor of the City of San Diego and served on the Board of Directors for arts and culture institutions.


Miguel Angel Soria

Program Director Miguel Angel Soria is first Generation Latino, born in Tijuana, Mexico. After immigrating to the United States, he pursued his education at the University of San Diego, graduating with a B.A. in Philosophy, and later securing his Education Administration Credential followed by a Masters in Education with a concentration in Counseling from San Diego State University. As an artist and educator, he helped create the nationally recognized touring group, The Taco Shop Poets. Later, as a San Diego Unified School District teacher, he taught high school students for many years. He is also a film producer and published author.


Stacey Goto
Administrative Assistant and Community/Volunteer Coordinator

Stacey Goto is a fourth generation Japanese American. She graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in International Security and Conflict Resolution. During her last year at SDSU, she was the Future Leader Intern in 2007 for the New Americans Museum. After graduation, she returned to the museum to continue her work as a liaison to the community and participate in developing a dialog program regarding immigration.
